Natures Palette Symphony
Nature's Palette Symphony
Our natural environment provides us with a feast of living colour. Yet hidden in the leaves, flowers, stems, barks of each individual plant are its unique pigment formula. Regional plants provide their own regional palette of colour. My art pieces in this series go back to this basic essence of living colour by creating cloth and art with colours, marks and eco prints of local flora and using pigments extracted from flora of the region.
There are five movements - sub series within this symphony.
Movement 1: Eco Colour- Marking Place
Uses fabrics dyed with local plants, eco printed fabrics with local foliage and fabric painted with pigment from local rocks and soils.
Movement 2: Improvisation
Focuses on upcycling fabric and paper used in the eco printing process to wrap the bundles or provide barriers in printing process to create art.
Movement 3: Monoprints with Nature's Palette
Uses local foliage to create mono eco prints as art.
Movement 4: Mixed Media with Nature's Palette
This sub series takes monoprints and builds on them with rusting processes, stitch and ink.
Movement 5: Playing with Flora
This engages my child archetype as I play with creating monoprints and adding stitch.
