Another dyeing day
The dreaded cold/flu lurgy has really hit myself and my husband. No energy to do anything. The days have been so beautiful but have not had the energy to do anything. Two weeks later I’m a little better, hubby is not.
This morning I decided to do a little dyeing as it was too windy to be outside working on the garden. So I got some cineria leaves, bark from a tree in the area and leaves from another native tree coming across to our place from our neighbour’s. I wish I could recognise trees and flora better. Been working on it but it is slow. I prepared a number of bundles for steaming, pole wrapped several for dyeing in bark or leaves. I am still experimenting with steaming. Not sure what I am doing as results seem to be mediocre. So I just keep trying. I love the smell of eucalypt in my dye pots. As It is windy I am working in the garage. It seems that I have been taking over the garage slowly for natural dyeing when I can’t work outside.
I was going to start on my hexagon quilt. Spent a lot of time looking for a book with musical instruments. No sign of it. I am just so sure that I would not have parted with it during the move but maybe I did as I cannot find it. Maybe in one of those ruthless cull moments I did take it to the second hand book shop. I need an image of a brass instrument at a particular angle. So I need to solve that quandry next.
I have been really enjoying the SAQA Oceania Blog Hop of the The Oceania Collection. Check out Brenda Gael Smith’s blog today.
During July, August and September SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) Oceania members will be sharing the creativity behind their benefit auction quilts. Follow the Oceania Collection Blog Hop to get a peek into the work of each artist. Come back and visit on 3 August 2013 to learn more about my work – Winter #4.
