Rasa Mauragis Resume

Rasa started quilting in 1995 under tutelage of Beth Miller who has been a big influence in her quilting journey.

Rasa’s  journey and direction with textiles has also been influenced through workshops with Bob Adams, Jan Beaney, Jenny Bowker, Elizabeth Bush, Nancy Crow, Dianne Finnegan, Jan Irvine-Nealie, Ruth Issett, Gloria Loughman, Susan Matthews, Beth Miller, Julie Ryder, Heide Stoll Weber,  Olga Waters.


  • 1996 Won Margaret Armistead Award for first time exhibitor for quilt Central Spirit – Canberra Quilters Exhibition
  • 1998 Viewer’s choice for miniature quilt Tulip Study 2 – Canberra Quilters Exhibition
  • 2001 Quilt When :
    – accepted into juried exhibition for the Celebration Quilts 2001 celebrating the Centenary of Federation (Australia)
    – Exhibited at Canberra Museum and Gallery, Barn Gallery, Montsalvat, Victoria and Regional Gallery at Griffith
    – Quilt hung in the Chief Executive’s reception area of the ACT Department of Justice and Community Safety 2005-2007
  • 2002 Quilt Escaping Inner City Jungle:
    – runner up in Pins and Needles shop challenge to make a quilt using a designated fabric
  • 2003 Quilt Firestorm: Will it Come my Way? Purchased by the ACT Emergency Services Authority
  • 2005 Quilt Views from Above: Landscape 1 accepted into Yarrawonga Arts Council juried exhibition Beyond the Border: An exhibition of Art quilts
    – Quilt Desolation accepted into Across Australia travelling exhibition
    – Quilt Through the Cosmos 1st place – Canberra Quilters Exhibition
  • Block chosen for the Australian Citizenship Quilt Project Quilt exhibited at Parliament House Canberra
  • 2006 Quilt Through the Cosmos #2 2nd place in “Anything Goes “ Quilts category – Canberra Quilters Exhibition
  • 2007 Paper Blues Impromptu 3rd place Miniature Quilt category Sydney Quilt Show
  • 2009 – Quilt Desolation 1st place – Canberra Quilters Exhibition
  • 2010 – 12 Quilt Snowscape accepted into juried Australia Wide 2 travelling exhibition
  • 2014 – Snowy Landscape: Eco colour #2 1st prize, Art Quilt section, Dalgety Show
  • 2016 – Adagio Etude – Lost cities exhibited in Natural Surface Design Conference Exhibition in Lithuania
